Research

Clinical research is a fundamental part of how the NHS enhances its ability to diagnose, prevent, and treat medical issues. St Hilary Group Practice is a research active surgery, meaning we support and participate in clinical research activities with the intention of improving outcomes for patients.

Patients who are invited to take part in these research programmes may be able to find out more about their conditions or try new medications that could improve their symptoms. If you are invited, you would receive information via text, email, or post with clear information about what the research is. There is no obligation to take part in any research programme and it will not affect your relationship with the surgery in any way if you decide you aren’t interested.

None of your patient information will be shared with anyone outside of the surgery without your explicit consent, and the information that would be shared would be explained to you beforehand so you can make an informed decision.

All clinical research carried out is checked and approved by ethical committees to ensure it is appropriate and safe to perform.
