Dr Lucy Wictome

Dr Wictome qualified from Liverpool Medical School in 1995 and joined St Hilary Group Practice as a GP Registrar in 2001 to complete her GP training. She remained with the practice as a salaried GP before becoming a Partner in 2006, and following Professor Kingsland’s retirement in 2020, she became the Senior Partner.

Alongside her clinical work, Dr Wictome has always been passionate about teaching and developing the next generation of doctors. She spent many years as a Community Clinical Teacher at the University of Liverpool, later becoming an Associate Dean with Health Education England, where she supported the International GP Recruitment Programme. She has been a GP Trainer since 2010 and continues to supervise GP Registrars within the practice.

Dr Wictome also holds several roles with NHS England. She is a GP Appraiser, supporting fellow GPs through their annual professional appraisals, and also appraises Responsible Officers—senior doctors who oversee the professional standards and revalidation of other doctors in hospitals and trusts. These roles help ensure doctors continue to provide safe, effective and high-quality care for patients.

In addition, she is a Clinical Advisor and Investigator for the NHS England North West Professional Standards Team, where she provides independent clinical expertise and helps investigate concerns about medical practice to support patient safety and uphold professional standards across the NHS.

One of Dr Wictome’s main clinical interests is minor surgery. She has led the Wallasey Locality Minor Surgery Service for over 16 years and is an experienced national trainer, delivering minor surgery courses for GPs through the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP).

Outside of work, Lucy enjoys spending time with her husband, son and daughter on the Wirral. She is a keen sports enthusiast and can often be found with a hockey stick or golf club in hand at weekends.
